EXCELLENCE IN DESIGN AWARD

Award History

The Excellence in Design Award was established in 2003 to recognize the best in design and installation of long-lasting, energy efficiency, environmentally friendly roof systems.  With the development of RoofPoint in 2011, the Center for Environmental Innovation in Roofing began recognizing design excellence through the RoofPoint program.

Annual design award winners are selected from projects that best exemplify the mission and meet the criteria of RoofPoint.  Only RoofPoint Registered Projects are eligible for the award.  Interested parties are encouraged to contact RoofPoint for more information.

Award Categories

The RoofPoint Excellence in Design Award recognizes annual winners in ten categories:

Excellence in Energy Management: Projects receiving this award demonstrate the best application of RoofPoint Energy Management Credits, including roof energy efficiency and rooftop clean energy production.

Excellence in Materials Management: Projects receiving this award demonstrate the best application of RoofPoint Material Management Credits, including material recycling, project waste management and the use of environmentally preferable construction materials.

Excellence in Water Management: Projects receiving this award demonstrate the best application of RoofPoint Water Management Credits, including storm water management and rain water harvesting.

Excellence in Durability and Life Cycle Management: Projects receiving this award demonstrate the best application of RoofPoint Durability Credits and Life Cycle Management Credits, including roofing design and material enhancements, quality assurance and ongoing roof asset management.

Excellence in Reroofing: Projects receiving this award demonstrate the best overall application of RoofPoint credits in a reroofing application.

Excellence in Roofing Innovation: Projects receiving this award demonstrate the best application of RoofPoint Innovation Credits, including use of new sustainable strategies not yet recognized by RoofPoint and achievement of levels of performance significantly higher than current RoofPoint criteria.

Leadership Awards

RoofPoint Leadership Awards recognize the roofing professionals associated with RoofPoint projects that demonstrate significant leadership in advancing the awareness and application of sustainable roofing.

Global Leadership: Recipients demonstrate the best application of RoofPoint beyond the borders of the United States.

Community Leadership: Recipients demonstrate the best application of RoofPoint within local communities and market areas.

Private Sector Leadership: Recipients demonstrate the best application of RoofPoint for private sector facilities.

Public Sector Leadership: Recipients demonstrate the best application of RoofPoint for public sector facilities.

Advancing Sustainable Roofing: Recipients demonstrate how an individual roofing project may be used as a model for expanding sustainable roofing awareness and practice.
